Project Background

Dakeng Scenic Area is an important hiking and recreational attraction for Taichung citizens. By extending the MRT Green Line to Dakeng, it can relieve traffic jams in that region on holidays. Also through shuttle buses and other transition measures, it can also transport tourists to other recreational areas, such as Xinshe, Shihgang, and Dongshih. On the other hand, the MRT Green Line is planned to extend its route to Changhua County, thus promoting the development of both places. Moreover, it is planned to share the same station building with TRA and Lugang Line, further promoting the tourism development and commuting convenience for both places.

Current Progress

The feasibility study for the MRT Green Line to Dakeng and Changhua extension was reviewed and approved by the MOTC in July 2020, and approved by the Executive Yuan on January 31, 2024.

The tender for Comprehensive Planning and Technical Consultation Services (綜合規劃技術服務案採購) was awarded on June 28, 2024. The work execution plan was approved on September 12, 2024. Comprehensive planning, environmental impact assessments, and rezoning operations are now being conducted in accordance with the contract and the relevant regulations. The interim report for comprehensive planning is current being reviewed.
