Dali, Wufeng, and Taiping districts have observed rapid population and industrial growth in recent years and have increasing transportation demand. Dapingwu MRT is an important transportation construction for suburban Taichung, in which the route will connect major corridors of the region. This will not only promote the development of tourism and the economy, but would also meet commuting demands and bring about a more balanced development for the Greater Taichung Region. Dapingwu MRT is currently carrying out its feasibility study. An end-term examination meeting was held on Nov. 25, 2020 and its study is now being amended according to the conclusion of the meeting. Local explanatory meetings are scheduled to be held on the first-half of 2021. After seeking local opinions, Taichung City Government will file the report to the Ministry of Transportation and Communication for further examination and seek its approval.
