Dakeng Scenic Area is an important hiking and recreational attraction for Taichung citizens. By extending the MRT Green Line to Dakeng, it can relieve traffic jams in that region on holidays. Also through shuttle buses and other transition measures, it can also transport tourists to other recreational areas, such as Xinshe, Shihgang, and Dongshih. On the other hand, the MRT Green Line is planned to extend its route to Changhua County, thus promoting the development of both places. Moreover, it is planned to share the same station building with TRA and Lugang Line, further promoting the tourism development and commuting convenience for both places. A feasibility study on the MRT Green Line being extended to Dakeng and Changhua has passed the examination of the Transportation Committee on July 1, 2020. Taichung City Government completed its amendment on the study on Aug. 31, 2020 and the Ministry of Transportation and Communication filed the amended feasibility study to the Executive Yuan on Oct. 23, 2020. Currently, it is under the examination of the Executive Yuan. Taichung City Government will aggressively seek its approval in order to carry out the next step of comprehensive planning operations as soon as possible.
