Given that Taichung Metropolis is heading towards multi-core development, the city government proposed the Greater Taichung Mountain-Coastal Circular Line, which plans to add Jiahou Line railway to connect the Mountain Line and Coastal Line of TRA and build a circular railway system in downtown Taichung. This project connects the Mountain Line and Coastal Line regions, thus providing a more convenient, rapid and accessible railway transportation service to the region. The Mountain-Coastal Circular Line is currently carrying out its feasibility study. The amendment of the report according to the suggestion from the central government has been completed and filed to the Ministry of Transportation and Communication on May 21, 2020. It is now under the examination MOTC Railway Bureau. Taichung City Government will continue to aggressively seek its approval.
